Indonesian klotok cruising down the river in Borneo

Watch the stars and sleep amongst the jungle sounds aboard our klotok river boat.

While we also offer the option of staying in a land-based lodge, we highly recommend surrendering to the full experience of sleeping on our traditional Indonesian river boat, Jungle Papa.

The hardwood klotok (river boat) is approximately 21m x 4m and separated into three decks.

Below Deck

Below deck has cosy enclosed cabin which sleeps two people and has access to a private balcony overlooking the water. Below deck, you’ll also find a shared bathroom with a shower and toilet, as well as a separate toilet.

Below deck is also where our kitchen and crew area is located along with the bridge at the front where the captain controls the klotok.

Middle Deck

The middle deck has multiple spacious living  areas and is the place where meals are served by our onboard cook and kitchen staff.

The front of the middle deck is the perfect spot to relax on the bean bags, read a book and observe the wildlife along the riverside. You might be lucky enough to spot a cheeky long tail macaque, or kingfisher. While the back of the boat features a comfortable u-couch where you can kick back and take in the surroundings.
Come night, the day beds in the middle and the back of the deck are converted into sleeping areas and draped with mosquito nets to sleep up to six people. This is the most unique sleeping experience, as you’ll be fully immersed in the forest.

Upper Deck

The upper deck is a great spot to get a higher vantage point to take photos of the jungle and mingle with the other guests on the tour.

If you’re a keen photographer or just a wildlife lover, we recommend spending as much time up here as possible because you’re sure to see an abundance of amazing and unique animals. The view down the river and into the jungle is also breathtaking.

Other amenities

Power is provided to allow guests to charge their phones, and photography equipment. We recommend bringing a fully charged power bank to ensure there are enough power points for all guests to use.

All meals are provided, including breakfast lunch, dinner, coffee and tea, mineral water and snacks. If you have dietary requirements, let us know prior to your arrival so our team can cater for you.

For small groups, we highly recommend sleeping on the klotok. you’ll be thankful for how immersive the experience is. It is a brilliant way to see the views and hear the sounds of the jungle up close.

For large groups and guests wanting alternative sleeping accomodation for some or all of their experience, we offer guests the opportunity to stay at Rimbah Orangutan Eco Lodge. Our Klotok will drop you off and pick you up from here each day of the tour.
